Remind me not to watch any more del Toro movies that involve children

Really?  Between The Orphanage and Mama, I think he's got some real issues with children, or at least with child/parent relationships.
I kept cheering for Annabelle.  I thought maybe when she found Lilly on the ground and they had a real connection for a moment there, that Mama would go away because Annabelle would now be the mother figure.

Then I thought, and I guess this would be too cheery for a horror movie, that when Mama tried to take the girls away, that Annabelle would save the day by calling out "I love you!" but alas, no.  I thought Annabelle would redeem herself as a mother figure.  Now I guess she has to live with the guilt of not being strong enough to save the girl.  Nope, no morals to this story.

I missed the first 5 minutes, but I don't think I missed anything.  Boy was I confused when the father disappeared only to return 5 years later and they waited like 10 minutes to explain that he was the uncle, even though he was played by the same guy! (I guess they were twins)Overall not a bad movie, but oof. I wish my son were home so I could give him a hug.

... Better knock Don't Be Afraid of the Dark off your list too. So much of the trouble is caused by parents just flat out Not Listening to what the kids have to say, to the point where the endangered kid puts herself at risk in the hopes of getting photographic evidence so the grownups will LISTEN TO HER ABOUT THE THINGS IN THE HOUSE EXISTING.
