When I was a little bit older than your son, I got stuck on the concept of "infinity" at one point. And it scared the livin' piss outta me. Specifically I was trying to imagine being dead and in Heaven, and the idea that everything would always be the same for always and would never end or change terrified me. I was trying to develop a concrete understanding for a concept that is a bit too big to wrap a brain around and I lay awake a couple nights freaking myself right the hell out.

I think that's sweet that he found a way to pray that makes sense for him. <3 In high school I came up with a gesture, because I thought of how Catholics make the sign of the cross and some Buddhists have that hand thing for when they're meditating and similar. I lift my palm to my chest and circle my heart with my middle finger (the longest on the hand and centrally located is the only reason for this). The heart is the metaphorical symbol for love and fielty and the receptacle of finer emotions and to me, a circle is a sacred shape- it has no beginning and no end, and all things in life are cyclical, and the sun and the moon and an egg is a circle, etc.

I still do that at times.
