So this morning I had no anxiety at all. It was really strange. Well I did feel slightly uncomfortable, but not like OMG get me off this bus right now!
So I'm hoping I feel okay through the afternoon. As I said before, it sucks that I have this two-shift thing. I would much rather have a normal job where you go to work and you're there all day and then you go home. Because I really don't enjoy this three hour break in the middle.
I'm about to go on a rant and I don't want any of you to feel like you have to read it or reply but here it is under a cut. I imagine it's very sensitive to most if not all of you, but I had to get it out.
My bus driver listens to conservative radio. I'm a liberal and I have actually learned some things from these radio shows. But I still can pick out some hypocrisy. For instance the guy this morning was enraged at a headline from Planned Parenthood that they have achieved a "record number" of abortions this year. Now, I guess it was a poor choice of words, but I don't think it was meant as an "achievement" as this talk radio host was suggesting. I think it was just saying that it was an all time high. Like when you say "there was a record number of deaths from cancer this year" you are not celebrating it--merely pointing out that it's at an all time high. The host went on to talk about the sanctity of life, etc. etc.
In the same breath, the talk radio host went on to talk about gun control. He is outraged that people would want to take away guns from responsible owners, or have their names and addresses listed in a database "like men who abuse little children".
Yes, it does suck that the responsible ones have to pay for the ones who can't handle it. But did we already forget that someone took a gun from someone who may have been a responsible owner, and went on to shoot a bunch of five and six year olds and adults?
What about THAT sanctity of life? Or does it only count for babies now? Why is he outraged about the lack of protection for unborn babies but completely selfish and not at all concerned for the people who are actually already populating the earth?
Where do we draw the line on who can and cannot have a gun? How about there is no line? Why is this even an issue?
As one of my friends said "People kill people, but a gun sure does fucking help."
