Since things have changed recently I thought I'd do an update for my new and old friends.

I'm 33.  I'm currently not working and probably won't be, at least not in the near future.  I have spina bifida and recently some of the problems stemming from this are causing me to not be able to work consistently.  My husband has given me the go ahead to not return to work, since I took a leave of absence about 3 weeks ago due to these issues.  My boss told me to take a month to try to get better, but my appointments aren't until November and December, so I'm going to go to her and tell her not to expect me back.  They already have my replacement, so it's fortunate that I don't have to worry about inconveniencing them.

I've been married for 8 years and our son turns 6 in a couple weeks.  My husband is a cable guy.  I tried a few different things in college but ultimately graduated culinary school with a 2 year degree.  I didn't end up doing much after that since we had our son 2 years after I graduated.  I stayed home with him, tried to make the cooking thing work but got too stressed out.  I worked at a school cafeteria as a substitute for a while, only got called a couple times but through that job I was asked if I wanted to be a bus monitor for a group of kids that gets bussed to a mental hospital/school out of state.  I did that for about 6 months until the medical issues began to crop up.

My son is in kindergarten.  He seems to enjoy it okay but it is a lot of work to him even though most of it is review from preschool and even the new stuff, he is grasping well.

As I mentioned before, I'm a bit of a new kids on the block fan.  I went to one show in 1990 and since they reunited in 2008 I have been to numerous events.  I've been having a blast and I met my current best friend because of the whole experience.  (I've also met a lot of bitches..but that's another story LOL)

I'm working on a project that involves cooking and NKOTB, actually.  I want to put together a cookbook of recipes sent in by nkotb fans and hopefully get the new kids themselves involved.  I'm working on that, and I'm waiting to hear back from a girl I contacted who has a working relationship with Danny.  I could use some good vibes.  ;)

I do some sporadic writing but I'm mainly focusing on other things right now.
Oh, another thing, I do enjoy comments--they help motivate me to write and they make me feel like someone cares about my silly life.  I try to comment on people's entries-I'd appreciate just a small comment if you do read my entries. Thanks :D

I hear ya on the comments thing. I find myself feeling somewhat resentful of the people on my FL to whom I comment a lot and they never, ever comment on my entries. I try not to let it affect my relationships but it kind of does anyway. I find myself just thinking "why should I bother to comment to them?"

Yeah, I can't totally blame everyone else because sometimes I do not comment. but it's saying "I agree" or "I'm sorry" or "Yay!" or even just "Hi I read this and I'm just saying Hi" LOL, that makes a difference.

Exactly. And I don't expect people to comment on every single post, sometimes you just don't have anything to contribute on certain topics. But just something occasionally so we know they're reading.

::waves:: I think it's that whole "like" button on Facebook that has killed LJ; so much easier to click than to actually leave a thoughtful comment.

I totally agree! I used to hate the Like button. Now I actually use it and I hate myself for it LOL

I didn't know that was your medical condition!! Had I never asked or did I forget like I do everything else?

It never came up. I don't really talk about it in conversation, but I decided to open up more about it in my journal.

Yeah don't be silly! If I'd wanted to talk about it earlier I would have brought it up. Most people don't even know what it is, so I don't bring it up most of the time.

I do always read your entries, but I am obviously a bad commenter!

It's okay! I didn't intend for people to feel bad about it. I just wanted people to know I like comments. LOL
