I have a question for all of you, maybe I should post a poll. If you don't want to answer the poll you can tell me your answers in the comments, but I really am curious how you guys decorate your interiors. If you're renting and therefore unable to paint or redecorate much just let me know what you *would* do, maybe. And of course if you don't give a shit about decorating, you don't have to give me your input.
Oh nevermind, apparently I can't post a poll. So here is my question: How do you paint your rooms? Do you use one color in different shades (such as different shades of yellow, or what have you) or do you just pick colors you like and don't worry about the flow of the house or whatever?
When we moved in, our house was all sorts of weirdness. The dining room and living room had wallpaper, I don't even remember what color the office was, and our downstairs bathroom was...are you sitting down? Purple walls and a red ceiling. Like, deep purple and deep red. The house had been rented out to college kids for a while and I don't know if the owner was responsible for all the decorating or if the kids had too much LSD one night and painted the bathroom. I mean, no offense if that's your style. It's just not our style.
So we redid the bathroom a light light blue. Eventually we stripped the living room and did a "pencil yellow"-if you can picture a No. 2 pencil, that's it. We recently did the office green and the dining room "toasted coconut" which is sort of a orange-brown. Then, since the bathroom was the only pastel room left, we just redid that in "pineapple yellow" which as you can imagine is a bright yellow. We also have a mud room which is sort of a deep turquoise.
Each individual room looks nice, but I don't know if it really flows. The kitchen is white walls with green tiles. Since kitchens are uber expensive to remodel, that'll have to wait quite a while. I'm having a hard time finding pics of entire house layouts to see how people coordinate their room colors. I guess it doesn't really matter, since usually the only room someone can see is the one they're currently in. And I'm aware we'll probably have to redo it in more neutral colors if we ever want to sell, but we don't see that in our near future.
Anyway, I'm sorry if I've bored the pants off of everyone, but that's what's going on here.
