I'm using this as an excuse to try putting in a cut, so bear with me. Keep in mind I haven't finished the book...but I need to get some of my confusion out of my system. DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS IF YOU DON'T SEE A CUT. I'm still working on it.

Okay first of all, what was up with the lunch box MB was holding? All I knew was Jude looked up to see MB holding a lunch box they originally thought was a purse and then he got distracted by the daughter pointing a gun at him. What was the lunch box supposed to signify? That Jessica is a freak who carries a Hannah Montana lunch box as a purse?

Another thing--where am I supposed to get that this guy is supposed to be into death-metal? I keep picturing him as a clean cut, kind of quiet guy and then I have to remind myself of what he's supposed to be. He's supposed to be this asshole who goes through women like candy and throws them away but the way he's portrayed is way too nice.

Next: Danny? What was really his whole purpose? He offed himself and now we don't hear from him again? (again, this may be resolved at the end...I hope...

I like the whole twist with the real roles McCraddock and Jessica played in Anna's life and death.

There were a couple moments that took me out of the story because I thought the writing was a bit awkward. I'm no expert but I hate redundancy or useless sentences, sometimes. There was one sentence that said something like "Jude himself never shaved"--where "himself" isn't necessary. But I'm picky.

All in all the book is good, it keeps me going, and there were some truly horrifying scenes. But it doesn't live up to what I psyched myself up for...so far. Maybe it has a kickass ending. :) </lj-cut>
