A song from your favorite band

becomingkateOh...no...really? I have to confess this already? Here I am trying to be all cool and crap and now I have to confess what my favorite band is.
Well I confess I've been in a totally retro music mood over the last couple years. I was a little bit young for the 80's, I tuned into pop music around the time of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation and Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl (yes kids, Paula actually did something right before she went cray-cray) So I've spent the last couple years trying to recapture some of those moments.
The biggest friggin' deal of my introduction to Top 40 music was the freaking New Kids on the Block. And as you may or may not know, they made a comeback 2 years ago. Oh yes I went to some shows. And appearances. And scoured Newbury Comics for any imports and solo stuff. For some reason when NKOTB broke up they didn't exist for me anymore. Joey, my favorite, went on to make solo music and star in musicals and tv and I freaking missed all of it. I'm making up for that now.
So back to my favorite song. One of their songs, I'll Be Loving You Forever (affectionately known to fans as IBLYF), has become an anthem. It represents the love of the fans and the return of that love from the new kids. Since they've returned, they've each opened Twitter accounts that they use regularly, did two cruises so far, where they and the fans are on the same boat and it's basically a big party, held contests to meet them and win items of their clothing, music, personal letters, and so much more. They've made themselves so accessible to the fans it's easy to take it for granted and forget what it was like when we were 10 and felt lucky to be a mile away from them at a concert. I met all but one of them (there's another story, there), been 5 rows away at a concert, 4 rows away at a Joey concert, grabbed Jon's hand, got beeped at when Jon drove past me and some friends after a show, met a bunch of awesome girls...there is just too much to list.
