becomingkateWe're looking into summer vacations, and hello, expensive. We were considering a Disney cruise but because we live in Massachusetts we'd have to travel to Florida to catch the boat. Planes are expensive, driving takes too long, the train is cheaper but is also very long. Over 24 hours sitting on a train with a 6 year old does not sound like a pleasant way to start and end a vacation.
So what do we want to do? I don't know. Here is where you come in, dear readers. I hope you'll be able to give me some fun ideas for a family with a 6 year old boy. Or help me justify the cost and the travel for the Disney cruise.
I'm thinking if we go Disney, we do the cruise instead of the World, because you get to stay in one place on the boat, not walk all around and get tired and cranky and hungry and hot, and from what I hear they take very good care of your kids and the grown ups get to have fun too.
I really wouldn't mind doing something simple for a couple days, but we've already gone to NYC twice and my husband doesn't want to go again yet, even though it's really fun and there are lots of kid friendly things to do and you can pick and choose how much you want to walk around and where you want to go. And there really isn't much that's fun in New England unless you like skiing or hiking or some other outdoorsy thing, which I don't, unless the outdoorsy thing is lying on the beach with a drink in my hand. Actually no, sun isn't good for me. Make that lying next to the indoor pool with a drink in my hand.
There's a lot going on with NKOTB this spring and summer and I of course want to go to at least one show or event depending on what all is going on. There's some "big announcement" when they're going to be on The View on the 22nd which will probably be an album release date or a single or tour announcement or some combination of the three. I kind of can't stand The View but I will take one for the team and watch it.
SO yes while I'd like to plan my summer around NKOTB events I do have a family who wants to actually go on a vacation WITH me this year. Sigh.
