becomingkate So I was in the middle of American Horror Story on DVR and Francis Conroy was seriously creeping me out because she was so far outside her usual motherly character. I mean, even as the Angel of Death or whoever she was, she had a sort of motherly, comforting persona and now here she comes looking and talking like how Lady Gaga is going to turn out in about 40 years. So I was tilting my head in disbelief when my husband called saying with some urgency in his voice,
"What are you doing?"
"Uh, nothing, what are you doing?"
"The school is trying to call you about Josh."
"What's wrong with Josh?" I said, with a hint of alarm.
"He's sick. He's been in the nurse's office for an hour."
Apparently I left my phone on vibrate and I didn't hear or feel it go off at Target and I didn't check the messages when I got home. I get the irresponsible mother of the year award. Yay! Fortunately that's why they ask for a few names on the emergency call list. I'm glad they didn't have to call my mother in law.
Seriously though, I've known the kid is sick. I'm not going to keep him home for two weeks with a cold. However the nurse felt otherwise and said I should keep him home today and tomorrow. And we have a long weekend coming up! Luckily we have a dr. appt. tomorrow in which they'll tell me to keep giving him that cough medicine that doesn't really work. It's not even a really bad cough anymore. He just generally feels yucky, but he's still eating and playing and whining and has his usual energy level. I'd be worried if he wanted to take a nap, but there's no sign of that.
I hope it's not strep, but he's also been eating and drinking normally and I feel like he wouldn't be if his throat hurt that much. I want to go out to get him some popsicles but he doesn't want to go out.
So the rest of my day was alright. I still got to do some of my own thing and Josh has kept busy with legos and he watched a terrible movie and played some Lego Star Wars on the xbox.
