becomingkate So excited to read more about paganism. I also can't wait to get to the ren fest (this weekend it rained so we didn't go) and look for some stones and things and maybe even talk to some people. I don't know.
I mentioned I wanted to try making candles, and then later my husband lamented, "I wish we had more to do together." I joked "We can make candles together" and he thought I was serious. Oh crap! I kind of wanted it to be my own thing. Well luckily, I'm home by myself most of the week and I might just have to get through one or two days of him wanting to try it with me on the weekend...and then my son will want to try...who knows, maybe they'll love it! My husband is kind of sensitive to scents though, so it might be too much for him. In the future I might make custom candles, with different colors and scents and maybe some crystals embedded into them or whatever else I learn how to do. I might start by buying one of those cheap kits at the craft store and then move up to making them from scratch. Everybody loves candles, right?
Do any of you make candles?
I'm going with this..it's weird but since the pagan thing seemed to catch on quick for me, I'm going with my gut for this too. I'm just not going to dive in too deep with the candles or the paganism. Usually when I start something new I want to learn all the things really fast and I get overwhelmed and give up. I'm taking my time this time.

Paganism, in my book, is "cleaner" than Christianity. Both sides still pick and choose pieces of the religion that suits them - but frankly that is what religion is all about and Paganism is hardly as hypocritical as Christians.
Remember "If it harms none, do as you will."
Meanwhile the Judeo-Christians needed about 10 rules explaining this sentence.
Do be careful. I'm an old hand at this and my advice comes free and from experience: there are many charismatic and energetic pagans at Ren Fairs. They're good at firing people up over projects that go nowhere. By experience, I mean 30 years - age 10 to age 40. They don't mean harm and they are the sweetest people, but they are demographically throughout my life from South Carolina to Texas to Illinois to Arizona to even England: Flakes.
Just keep a foot on the ground when they have an excellent and amazing idea. You will learn so much on history and philosophy and art from these people.

Date: 2013-09-03 06:19 pm (UTC)Yes, I do also wish we had more to do together but I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that we are not into each other's hobbies and we don't really have anything that overlapped. We used to computer game together and I'm not drawn to that anymore. So he does it by himself, I go to my social media sites and watch tv.
